Regimens are a schedule of drug batches, comprising the drug, dose, date of administration and frequency. By booking in a regimen you can have PTS automatically book in further prescriptions for each of the constituent drugs in the regimen, based on the schedule that you define on the regimen setup page.
On this page we will discuss the Regimens setup page but more information on the use of regimens can be found in the aseptics user guide.
Accessing the setup page
Like many of the different PTS utilities, setup is found in the left-hand side bar.
Hover over the sidebar with the mouse cursor and the side bar will expand. Select Setup to reveal a drop-down list of the various setup pages you have permission to access.
To choose a setup page click on its name in the list to be taken to the setup page.
PTS 5 is the most user configurable version of our Prescription Tracking System to date. As a result parts of this Wiki assumes that the reader has permission to access the elements of the system in question. If you don't see specific items and utilities where they are supposed to be you may not have permission to access them.
Adding new regimen
To create a new regimen access the actions menu by clicking on the actions menu icon at the top right of the page, then from the actions menu click the New Regimen button.
Click OK when you're done. The process then continues in the regimen popup.
Editing existing regimens
To edit an existing regimen, select the regimen you wish to amend by clicking on its entry in the list to load the regimen popup.
Regimen popup
The regimen popup appears after adding a new regimen, or clicking on an regimen in the list to edit it.
Enter the following information and click the Save button to finish creating or editing the regimen.
Regimen details tab
- Description
A short but descriptive name for the regimen.
Batches tab
The batches tab is where you define the drugs, doses and frequency of the schedule that make up the regimen. You will typically have multiple unique batches on each regimen.
- Type
The prescription type of this drug batch. Use this to specify the scanning sequence, target time etc. of this particular drug batch. You can use different prescription types for each drug or a generic prescription type, such as Worksheet. - Drug
The drug to be specified on the batch. If you have a populated drugs table, begin typing the name of the drug in the drugs field; it should auto-complete for you as you type. - Doses
The number of doses (remember this is based on the drug pack chosen in the previous step). - Starting on requested date
The "starting on requested date" field allows you to build in a delay between when the regimen is booked in and when this particular batch should start. e.g. enter 0 to have this batch start immediately, or enter 3 to have this batch start 3 days after the regimen is booked in. - Repeated for
Enter the number of weeks the drug batch should repeat for. This, and the previous step, provide the foundation for the scheduling aspect of the regimen.
